Hyderabad: The Congress could well face a tough task in Malkajgiri Assembly constituency with the Medchal-Malkajgiri district Congress committee president Nandikanti Sridhar, along with scores of his supporters, joining the BRS on Wednesday.
Sridhar joined the BRS in the presence of the party’s working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao with a promise that he, and his supporters will work hard to ensure a BRS victory in the district in the coming Assembly elections.
“We will ensure the defeat of Mynampally Hanumanth Rao in Malkajgiri and the victory of the BRS,” he said. Hanumanth Rao who was in the BRS until recently and was also declared as the party candidate from the constituency, quit the BRS to join the Congress.
Welcoming Sridhar into the BRS, Rama Rao said though Sridhar faced injustice in the Congress, the BRS will ensure that his services will be duly recognised. “He served the Congress his entire life and we welcome his decision to join the BRS. We will not only ensure that Sridhar is recognised but will also look after all his supporters and workers who joined the BRS today,” Rama Rao said.
