Revanth Reddy will go to prison in note-for-vote case: Harish Rao
Hyderabad: The BRS on Thursday turned the heat on Telangana state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy with finance minister T. Harish Rao declaring that it was now just a matter of time before Revanth Reddy goes to prison in the note-for-vote case. The ruling party has been consistently targetting the Congress and its state chief in its poll campaign and calling on people not to trust the Congress with their votes.
Addressing a public meeting in Kodangal after inaugurating a 50-bed government hospital in Kosgi, Harish Rao said that the Supreme Court has rejected Reddy’s plea in the case and made it clear that the investigation should progress.
“The probe will move forward, and it is certain that he will go to prison,” Harish Rao said.
Revanth Reddy represented Kodangal constituency as a TD member winning twice in 2009 and 2014 but lost in 2018 after which he switched to Congress. He won the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat as a Congress nomine in the 2019 election. Reddy is expected to contest from Kodangal in the ensuing Assembly elections.
Reddy was caught in the vote-for-note case in 2015 when visuals showed him offering Rs 50 lakh to nominated MLC Elvis Stephenson for his vote in an MLC election. Reddy was then with the Telugu Desam Party. The case was probed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
