Construction workers stay off Jana Sena rally

However, there was no seriousness among the participants in the march. Even Pawan Kalyan didn’t participate in the rally completely.

Visakhapatnam: The much-hyped ‘long march’ by Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan turned to be a fan moment for thousands but not a protest on a serious issue. Except for fans and youngsters, there was no large participation from the construction workers in the rally in whose favour the march was held. Due to acute sand shortage, the livelihood of construction workers was badly affected in the state. As many as 36 workers have committed suicide across the state. The march was aimed at extending solidarity to the families of the deceased workers.

However, there was no seriousness among the participants in the march. Even Pawan Kalyan didn’t participate in the rally completely. He joined the march at Maddilapalem at 4.10 pm and left for the public meeting in a car.

As the CPI and CPM did not participate in the march, there were very few workers on the occasion. Some intellectuals pointed out that the rally started from Maddilapalem, but no one garlanded the Telugu Talli statue.

After the rally, the roads were filled with empty water packet covers and buttermilk sachets. Jana Sena had been advocating against the usage of single-use plastic. The residents wondered how the leaders distributed food packets in plastic covers and did not bother to clean up.
