Karnataka BJP chief vows to defeat Siddaramaiah in polls
BENGALURU: Terming Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah a “villain”, the Karnataka unit president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nalin Kumar Kateel on Friday attacked Siddaramaiah over holding Tipu jayathi in the state.
“Siddaramaiah faces curse of the people for Tipu jayanthi celebrations. Because of this, Siddaramaiah is in search of a seat to contest the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state," Kateel said and expressed confidence that Siddaramaiah would be defeated in any Assembly seat he will contest.
Delivering the speech at the “Janasankalpa Yatra” organised in Srirangapatna town of Mandya district, Kateel said the voters of Badami Assembly seat have rejected Siddaramaiah for which he is the MLA and his defeat is sure in Badami this time.
He said Siddaramaiah is looking for a safe seat in Kolar while the voters in his native place - Mysuru district - have shown their dislike for him. The BJP chief lashed at Siddaramaiah stating that he meted out “injustice” to the state by holding Tipu jayanthi when in power in the state and a result he divided Hindus and Muslims in the state.
He also alleged that Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister of the state released about 2,000 members of Popular Front of India (PFI) which has been banned in the country now and also stood for cow slaughter.
Kateel also attacked JDS leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in his speech accused of “shedding tears” to win elections. The days of “JDS free” are not far away in Srirangapatna and that a BJP nominee would be elected from the Assembly seat in the forthcoming election.
