MIM Yet to Name Bahadurpura Candidate, But Confident of Retaining Seat
Hyderabad: The Bahadurpura Assembly constituency remains an important seat for the AIMIM, as it plays a significant role in maintaining the party’s strong foothold in the Old City area, where Muslim voters are in the majority.
While the Congress is fielding Rajesh Kumar Pulipati, BJP is fielding Y. Naresh Kumar and BRS is fielding Mir Inayath Ali Baqri from the seat, the MIM is yet to name its candidate.
The constituency has a total of 3,10,819 voters, with 1,57,142 male, 1,53,626 female and 51 transgender persons.
Since the formation of Telangana state, the MIM has secured relatively easy wins in the constituency, with Mohd Moazam Khan winning in both instances. The party is confident of repeating the trick for the third time as well.
In 2018, Moazam Khan won by a margin of 82,518 votes, beating out the then TRS’ Mir Inayath Ali Baqri. In 2014, Moazam Khan won by a margin of 95,045 votes, defeating TD candidate Md. Abdul Rahman Mahmood.
In 2018, BJP candidate Haneef Ali got 7,395 votes, while Congress’ Shaik Mohd Kaleemuddin got 7,174 votes.
