BJP Sees Surge by Winning 4 Seats in Adilabad
Adilabad: The BJP leaders and its cadres are celebrating the party’s surge in the state and winning four out of ten Assembly seats in the erstwhile Adilabad district in the Assembly elections. The saffron party, which has no history of winning a single seat in the district, won three communally sentisitive seats Adilabad, Mudhole and Nirmal.
The party supporters raised the slogans such as “Jai Shree Ram.. Bharath Mathaki Jai.. Jo Hindu Se Takrayega Oh Mitti Me Mil Jayega… Ram Laxman Janaki” after Payal Shankar won from Adilabad with a good margin.
Party national leadership’s special focus and the electioneering by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth, Union home minister Amit Shah and Ekanth Shinde and state former president Bandi Sanjay helped the party make inroads into the district, where it got good vote share in Adilabad and Mudhole segments in the last elections.
The BJP opened its account by winning the ST-reserved Adilabad MP seat by Soyam Bapu Rao in 2019. Congress senior leaders joining the BJP also helped it to strengthen its base for these polls.
DCC president Ramarao Patel, AICC program implementation committee chairman Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, senior Congress leader Palvai Harish Babu and former MP Rathod Ramesh had joined the BJP.
The party has penetrated tribal and non-tribal areas in the erstwhile Adilabad district with its frontal organisations which have had a strong base for a long time. It could tap into their vote bank with religious activities.
