Hyd's tech community seeks KTR-like' IT minister

Hyderabad: Outgoing IT minister K.T. Rama Rao found support in the city’s techie community, with representatives of IT bodies and city-based employees calling for the yet-to-be-named IT minister of the new government “to have equal passion as KTR” for the sector.

Representatives of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), not wishing to be named, said that “Rama Rao was the face of Hyderabad’s IT sector”.

Bharani Kumar Aroll, president & CEO at TechTriad Inc., who has served as SCSC’s secretary and president of Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, said: “It is too early to predict the future of Telangana’s IT sector. K.T. Rama Rao’s successor should have a similar passion and vision and take the IT sector to new heights.”

Nisha Karki, a city-based techie, said she and her family shifted to Hyderabad due to its remarkable growth in the IT sector over the past decade. “I am from Delhi but I shifted to Hyderabad along with my husband and kid for working in the IT sector. Personally, I admire K.T. Rama Rao,” she said.

Some IT employees also posted on social media that their laptops, mobile phones and other gadgets stopped working after the Telangana election results were announced.

An IT employee, who did not wish to be named said that posts on the IT sector suffering a potential fall were creating a fake narrative about Rama Rao.

“Some people are behaving as if their gadgets stopped working after Telangana election results. Those who are creating a fake narrative regarding Hyderabad’s IT sector should resign and join back once K.T. Rama Rao returns as IT minister,” the techie said.
