Odisha: BJP leaders sound euphoric after party's hat-trick win in Hindi heartlands
Bhubaneswar: After the resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Odisha on Sunday sounded euphoric and exuded confidence that the state unit would put up a similar “spectacular” in 2024 elections.
Odisha will go to the assembly elections simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls.
Apparently elated over the hat-trick victories in the Hindi heartlands, BJP’s state unit president Manmohan Samal said he was quite optimistic that Odisha voters would now have “greater love” for his party.
“The BJP got a chance for the first time to be the main opposition in 2019 by replacing the Congress in Odisha. In 2024, we will definitely form the government in Odisha, because common people have decided to overthrow the BJD government. They will fight for the BJP,” said Samal.
Asked about a persistent perception that if the BJD and the BJP will have a friendly match in the 2024 elections, Samal termed it as “baseless,” saying that it was the “conspiracy” of the ruling party which is creating such a perception as part of its strategy to induce confusion among people.
“Since 2009, when the BJP parted its way from the BJD, we are looking after our own organisation and performing as an opposition party,” he said.
Samal asserted that the poll results of the assembly elections in the three states proved the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as shown in the survey. The Prime Minister has done a lot of commendable work like scrapping of Article 370, Ram Mandir, and good governance, he said terming the BJP’s victory as a trailer before the 2024 final battle.
BJP national vice-president and former Kendrapara Lok Sabha member, Baijayant Panda credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the “superb” performance of the saffron party in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
“The results of various states show that people have tremendous faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The BJP is winning by a huge margin in three states and the party’s performance has improved considerably in terms of seats in another state,” said Panda.
The results of the assembly elections, said Panda, would certainly have a huge positive impact on the prospects of the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
He also claimed that the Chhattisgarh election results would also have an impact on the Odisha assembly elections 2024.
“A few months ago, it was being said that Chhattisgarh was one state where BJP cannot win. But in Chhattisgarh, BJP has registered a landslide victory. Many people from Odisha, including me, worked hard in Chhattisgarh. The results' outcome will certainly have an impact in Odisha,” said Panda.
