Top 3 Congress leaders triumph in Khammam
Khammam: Top Congress leaders including CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Thummala Nageshwar Rao have been elected as MLAs along with five others from the erstwhile Khammam district. These three top guns got a good majority of votes in the Assembly elections.
The Congress has shown once again its political hegemony on the politics in the district. Bhatti has been elected fourth time in a row from the Madhira constituency.
Bhatti’s walkathon “People’s March” from Boath of Adilabad district to Khammam covering 1,360 km, involving party top leaders and party meetings in Mancherial and Khammam addressed by national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi and ‘Dalit Girijan Dandora’ meeting at Indravelli in 2021 headed by TPCC chief Revanth Reddy lifted the morale of the party cadres in the erstwhile Adilabad district.
The party’s performance in the district is attributed to the collective efforts and unity among these three leaders.
Congress lost only one seat, Bhadrachalm won by BRS candidate while Kothagudem was allocated to CPI as part of an election alliance from Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao who also won it.
Meanwhile, top BRS leader Puvvada Ajay Kumar was defeated at the hands of Thummala Nageshwar Rao from Khammam.
