Pattabhi walks out of Central Jail
KAKINADA: Telugu Desam national spokesperson K. Pattabhi and 12 others walked out of Central Jail on Saturday after a court granted them conditional bail. They had been arrested and remanded by Gannavaram police in Krishna district on February 22 in connection with violent incidents at the TD office in Gannavaram.
Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary and other TD leaders received Pattabhi and others outside the Central Jail. Buchaiah Chowdary pointed out that though YSRC cadres had attacked the TD office, police had booked cases against Pattabhi and other TD leaders and let YSRC miscreants go scot-free.
The senior TD MLA maintained that TD cadres or leaders will not be deterred by such pressure tactics or false cases. However, he said, there is a limit to everything. But YSRC government has already crossed all limits by booking victims in false cases and letting aggressors go scot free.
Pattabhi said he had gone to Gannavaram on hearing the news of attack on Donthu Chinna, a TD leader hailing from backward classes. “The TD office had been burnt down and I was taken into custody and shifted to Thotlavalluru police station. From 2 a.m. that night to 5 a.m., there was total darkness in the station. They put a towel over my face and I was beaten badly by three masked men. But I will not be cowed down by the violence. This is the fourth time I have been attacked. We will continue to fight the repressive regime of the YSRC on behalf of the people,” the TD leader stated.
He condoled the death of senior TD leader and MLC B. Arjunudu. “It is most unfortunate that I could not even get to see him for the last time, as I had been jailed,” he said.
