Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka's padayatra crosses 600-km mark

Hyderabad: Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s padayatra crossed the 600-km landmark on Thursday, the 49th day of the walkathon, when he entered Bhuvanagiri town to a grand welcome.

Bhatti was welcomed in Bhuvanagiri by PCC general secretary P. Pramod Kumar, PCC members Tangellapalli Ravi Kumar, former municipal vice chairman Barre Jahangir and the party’s Bhuvanagiri town incharge B. Satyanaryana among others.

Former PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Bhatti’s padayatra was on the lines of the one undertaken by Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy before he became CM.

Speaking to mediapersons, Bhatti said a coalition government under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi will be formed at the Centre in 2024 and a Congress government in the state would benefit the former Nalgonda district and Bhuvangiri.

On his way to Bhuvanagiri from Basavapur, a few farmers met him and expressed their anguish about the indifference of the market yard officials. Bhatti assured them that he would take up their issue with the collector.

Farmers who lost their houses to the Basvapuram reservoir met Bhatti and told him that they had not been given alternative housing sites. A farmer said that officials had acquired his 15-acre land for the reservoir and the regional ring road.
