Union minister Ananth Kumar slams Karnataka government

People want to know why the Chief Minister was silent over his party leaders' involvement in illegal sand mining, he said.

Belagavi: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar has accused the state government headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of pushing people into a deep crisis while claiming that land and water resources are in danger due to the government's mismanagement. Speaking to mediapersons while attending a private function in Belagavi on Sunday, he said several leaders from the ruling party were involved in illegal sand mining, which was taking place rampantly in many areas.

People want to know why the Chief Minister was silent over his party leaders' involvement in illegal sand mining, he said. To ensure protection of forests, a campaign to motivate every individual to plant one sapling had been taken up in the state by the party, he said calling the Green India campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save forests as a repeat of an attempt made in the past by Mahatma Gandhi.
