Winning 2019 is my challenge, says Dinesh Gundurao on role as new KPCC chief
CHIKKAMAGALURU: Former minister Dinesh Gundurao, who got the news of his appointment as president of KPCC on his wife Tabu's birthday, says the Congress top brass has placed major responsibility on his shoulders with his appointment to the top post and that he will take it as a challenge.
Mr Dinesh Gundurao was in the famed pilgrim town of Sringeri to seek the blessings of Bharathi Theertha swamy on the occasion of his wife Tabu's birthday when the news of his appointment as KPCC president was conveyed to him by AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot. He succeeds Dr G Parameshwar who has joined the cabinet as deputy chief minister. He had earlier served as a member of the cabinets of Mr S.M. Krishna and Mr Siddaramaiah, working president of KPCC and chief of the state unit of Youth Congress.
Later, addressing press conference in Chikkamagaluru, Dinesh Gundurao said that he has taken up the responsibility of leading the party at a challenging juncture and heading a party is a huge responsibility on his shoulders.
He felt that his political experience had helped him to get the coveted post and thanked party president Rahul Gandhi and state party leaders for their support to ensure his that he secures the top post.
Later he said the Congress-(JD-S) would work like a team in view of next year's general elections. He demanded the state government to implement all policies and programmes launched by this coalition. The benefits of these schemes and policies should reach the villages to rid poverty and diseases which occur when there are not signed of this disease.
