VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said on Thursday that Kuppam assembly constituency was like his own assembly segment and assured people of the constituency that a minister post would be given to KRJ Bharat, son of deceased MLA K Chandramouli, after he wins the Kuppam seat.
The chief minister said Kuppam was largely developed by the YSRC government in the past three years.
The CM interacted closely with party cadres in the assembly constituency and blew the conch for the 2024 assembly elections from Kuppam, the constituency of his arch rival and Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu.
Jagan said if YSRC can conquer Kuppam, it can conquer the entire state without much difficulty in the 2024 elections. He would chalk out election strategies across the state by holding a series of meetings with YSRC leaders and cadres across the constituencies, he said.
Jagan declared that Kuppam was as important to him as his own Pulivendula in Kadapa. “Hereafter, our complete attention will be on Kuppam. We shall develop the constituency in such a way that the people will keep the TDP at a distance. We have already developed Kuppam in the last three years, much more than what Chandrababu did in several decades,” the CM said.
Jagan said, “The outside world thinks Kuppam is a stronghold of the TDP and it has always supported Chandrababu. Fact is Kuppam constituency is where BCs are a majority. We are doing good work for the BCs. We took a step forward by fielding IAS officer K Chandramouli, a nice soul from a strong BC community. Unfortunately Chandramouli is no more. Then we brought his son Bharat up.”
The chief minister recalled, “I went to the hospital when Chandramouli was undergoing treatment. It was there that Bharat was introduced to me. That day I decided that I will promote Bharat. I promise to give him a minister post after he wins the Kuppam election. You all should work for his win.”
Jagan said, “TDP and Chandrababu went on to create an illusion that Chandrababu will win the constituency, he will become the CM and Kuppam will develop. To tell you all the truth, more good has been done to Kuppam constituency in these three years than during Chandrababu's term as CM. The Nadu-Nedu in schools, house pattas, Nadu-Nedu in hospitals, secretariat, village clinic and Rythu Bhrosa Kendras, which were absent earlier, are visible here now.“
The CM announced the sanctioning of Rs. 65 crore in funds to Kuppam municipality, completion of Kuppam branch canal works in a year and said the party cadres should work with full enthusiasm to enable the YSRC win 175 MLA seats.
He stated, “I place this responsibility on your shoulders. I have that faith in you. Work with redoubled zeal. We will support the activists in all ways. If Bharat wins the Kuppam seat by defeating Naidu, I will make him a cabinet minister.”
