Hyderabad: The political affairs committee (PAC) of the Congress on Saturday, with K.C. Venugopal, AICC general secretary incharge of the organisation, in attendance, directed its leaders to shed all differences and work unitedly for the next 100 days.
Venugopal is said to have stressed the need for leaders to bury their differences with colleagues, opining that the chances of Congress coming to power were the best in Telangana, among the poll-bound states.
He is said to have stressed this when leaders like N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Damodara Raja Narasimha and Renuka Chowdary lamented the absence of any knowledge regarding the formation of various committees, until they were finalised.
Conducted an orientation session for the AICC observers appointed for the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, Venugopal also shared his experience on social media.
Briefing the media on the proceedings, PAC convener Shabbir Ali said, “We have been directed to follow the Karnataka model in our campaign by K.C. Venugopal. We will file a chargesheet on the land scams happening in the state. Four public meetings will be held between August 15 and September 15 in the Zaheerabad, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda Parliamentary constituencies. Each of them will be attended by a senior leader. The leaders have been asked to stay in tribal hamlets on Tribals’ Day.”
Senior leader and former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao is said to have stressed on giving BCs their due, given that all parties are trying to woo them. The BJP is also focusing on them after Rahul Gandhi’s message of ‘Jitne Hissedari Utna Bhagidari’.
While some leaders are said to have stressed the urgency to fill vacant posts at the mandal level, the need to accommodate those serving the party for a long time was also reminded. The PAC meeting was attended by AICC incharge of Telangana Manikrao Thakre and TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, among others.
