Ramagundam MLA faces heat from BRS leaders
Karimnagar: Korakanti Chander Patel, the sitting BRS MLA, is facing the heat from BRS leaders in Ramagundam, Peddapalli district.
As many as five key party leaders attended a meeting opposing MLA Chander Patel's candidature and openly stated to the party leadership that they would not support him if the party gave him a ticket in the upcoming Assembly elections from the Ramagundam segment.
The BRS leaders K. Sandhya Rani, M. Raji Reddy, P. Yellaiah, K. Lakshmi Narayana, and B. Manohar Reddy assembled a team and held meetings in different colonies in support of the BRS opposing the candidature of MLA Chander Patel under the banner of Praja Ashirwada Yatra.
During a meeting with Singareni workers in Godavarikhani town, they claimed that MLA Chander Patel and his followers are facing several allegations, including recruitment fraud in Ramagundam Fertiliser Company Limited (RFCL) and a youth who committed suicide after being unable to find work despite giving money to his followers who promised him a job, as well as allegations of recruitment of contract employees in the newly established RFCL.
People are opposing him because he is tarnishing the image of the BRS party, thus the party leadership is being pushed to replace him and give a ticket to one of them so that they can restore the party's image and win the seat.
They said that MLA Chander Patel, who harboured a personal grudge against them, refused to invite them to party events and purposefully kept them away from party activities. According to them, the MLA was even threatening them with the assistance of his fans.
If the party leadership gives a ticket to existing MLA Chander Patel, there is no chance of winning the Ramagundam assembly segment seat. To bring the matter to the attention of the party leadership, they announced that a large public assembly under the banner of Praja Ashirvada Sabha will be held on August 6 in Ramagundam.
Meanwhile, according to party sources, the BRS leadership invited the five members to the Pragathi Bhavan to discuss the problem and ordered in-charge minister Koppula Eshwar to coordinate and resolve the situation.
