Congress: KCR has let down Nizamabad

HYDERABAD: The Congress on Sunday questioned the decision of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to visit Nizamabad after having ignored poll promises of boosting the district’s development.

He had assured to reopen Nizam Sugar Factory (NSF) within 100 days after TRS came to power, Congress leaders said. Pranahita-Chevella lift irrigation scheme, now called Kaleshwaram LI scheme works are yet to be completed, they said.

Speaking to reporters in Nizamabad on Sunday, TPCC treasurer P. Sudarshan Reddy, former ZP chairman Taher Bin Hamdan, DCC president M. Mohan Reddy and city Congress president Kesha Venu said that Rao had also assured waiver of crop loans of Rs 1 lakh, but did not honour the same.

Farmers are facing difficulties getting fresh crop loans from the banks due to the government’s negligence, they alleged. They demanded immediate sanction of double bedroom houses and pensions for 57 plus persons.
