Kova Laxmi\'s family closes ranks at crucial time

Adilabad: Cutting across their different political affiliations, the family of Kova Laxmi has come together to protect family interests and carry forward the political legacy of their father Kotnak Bheem Rao, a minister of Congress in the past.

Kova Laxmi, who is the zilla parishad chairman, is contesting the forthcoming elections from Asifabad. Her sister TPCC general secretary Marsakola Saraswati has been denied the Congress party ticket to Asifabad. Likewise, her brother Kotnak Ramesh did not get the Congress ticket from Khanapur.

Both Saraswati and Ramesh have now joined BRS in the presence of party-working president K.T. Rama Rao. They are now working to strengthen their sister Kova Laxmi’s hands in the ongoing Assembly elections.

However, until a few days ago, there had been speculation that sisters Kova Laxmi and Marsakola Saraswati may contest against each other representing BRS and Congress respectively. Things have taken a different turn after Congress denied the party ticket to Saraswati.

The sisters had contested against each other in the past, Kova Laxmi on the BRS ticket and Saraswati on the TDP ticket in 2014. Kova Laxmi won the elections. BRS renominated Laxmi in the 2018 elections. But Congress candidate Atram Sakku defeated Laxmi, though by just 172 votes.

Atram Sakku went on to join the BRS later. Now, Atram Sakku has been denied the BRS ticket. He is extending his support to party candidate Kova Laxmi.
Kova Laxmi has expressed happiness over her family members Marsakola Saraswati and Kotnak Ramesh backing her at this critical time by joining the BRS. She said this gives her additional strength in winning the elections.
