Nomination highlights: Transgender files nomination from Jedcharla
A 46-year-old practising advocate, Maata Shree Jaanakamma, was the first transgender person to file their candidature for the Assembly polls, from the Jadcherla constituency, on Saturday.
“There is a need for a strong voice for transgender persons in the state to highlight our issues. A number of cases of abuse of transgender persons are reported at several places, but there was no action against miscreants. I chose the option to contest in elections and to represent the transgender persons in Telangana,” Jaanakamma said.
The Bahujan Samaj Party also fielded a transgender person, Chithrapu Pushpita Laya, from Warangal East.
Andhra-origin party set for TS polls: A master’s degree holder, K. Shanker, filed his nomination in the Nagarkurnool constituency on behalf of the Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi. Shankar, who works with an NGO, said the Samaikyanadhra Parirakshana Samithi was established a few years ago to unite all BCs, SCs and STs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Revanth Reddy's affidavit: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, who filed his nomination on Friday, is yet to file his affidavit, according to the returning officer (RO) of Kodangal, additional collector Lingham Naik. He said the last date to file an affidavit is November 10.
Seizures:
Rs 6.68 crore of unaccounted cash was seized from November 3 to November 4, taking the total to Rs 170 crore from October 9.
Liquor worth Rs 3.25 crore was seized, and the total stands at Rs 55.76 crore.
Drugs worth Rs 6.68 crore were seized in a 24-hour period ending November 4, and the overall is at Rs 27.82 crore.
Gold worth Rs 9.96 crore was seized on November 4, taking the total to Rs 175 crore from October 9.
