No plan to change constituency: PWD Minister Dr H.C Mahadevappa
Mysuru: Denying that he was himself keen on contesting the coming state assembly elections from C V Raman Nagar in the city, Public Works Minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa claimed here on Friday that he had not thought of changing his constituency (T Narsipur), although he had been offered other options.
But he also stressed that he was ready to contest from any constituency that the high command chose for him. There have been protests in C V Raman Nagar against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s reported decision to field him from the constitutency. Speaking to reporters here, he said senior Congress leader, Veerappa Moily had asked him to contest from Nelamangla, and Mr Roshan Baig had suggested he contest from Pulkeshinagar.
“The people want me to contest from Nanjangud. But I will contest from any constituency the high command wants me to,” he declared. As for his son, Sunil Bose contesting the coming elections, he said he would do so only if the party and party workers approved.
The Minister warned the Bharatiya Janata Party that it would fail in playing the Hindutva card in Karnataka and accused it of politicising the death of party worker, Deepak Rao, for its own ends. “Such issues should not be politicised. The investigation will reveal the truth and those responsible will be punished,” the Public Works Minister said.
