One week after joining, Ambati Rayudu quits YSRCP, takes break from politics
Vijayawada: In a surprise move, former Indian cricketer Ambati Tirupati Rayudu, who joined YSR Congress about 10 days ago, announced his exit from the party on Saturday.
In a post on X, Rayudu tweeted, "This is to inform everyone that I have decided to stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time. Thank You."
The cricketer joined YSRC on December 28, 2023 in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy and Rajampeta Lok Sabha member P. Mithun Reddy.
Rayudu has represented the Indian cricket team in international tournaments. His contributions in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are significant. He had been made the brand ambassador for Andhra Pradesh government’s “Aadudam Andhra” programme.
According to sources, CM Jagan offered the Machilipatnam MP ticket to Ambati Rayudu. But the cricketer refused.
