Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan fell on the stage in Vizianaga-ram after a fan tugged at his feet to take his blessings on Friday.
With fans milling around, people wanted to touch Mr Kalyan. Soon after he took the stage, a boy standing behind Mr Kalyan crossed the security cordon and fell at his feet. Mr Kalyan tripped and tried to take the support of the microphone stand. It broke, and Mr Kalyan fell down.
Security personnel immediately dragged the boy away from Mr Kalyan and thrashed him. The JS leader continued the programme after the boy was taken away. Later when the boy was being handed over to police, Mr Kalyan asked them to leave him alone.
Later, Mr Kalyan travelled to Vijayawada, where he was admitted to Aayush Hospital for treatment. After performing primary medical tests, toctors suggested that he take two days of rest. Following this, his public meetings and road shows in Sattenapalli and Tenali were cancelled. This left the party with no star campaigner.
Former Assembly Speaker and senior party leader Nadendla Manohar said Mr Kalyan did not have lunch before the public meeting at Vizianagaram and he was weak due to the high temperature. He said he fell ill in Vijayawada due to dehydration when he was readying to fly to Tenali in a helicopter at Gannavaram. He asked fans not to worry about Mr Kalyan's health as he was responding well to treatment.
