MB Patil dig at BS Yeddyurappa: Join Congress to be CM
Hubballi: In a sarcastic response to the equally sarcastic appeal made by BJP leader C.T. Ravi to him to support fellow Lingayat B.S. Yeddyurappa to become CM, Home Minister M.B. Patil said that he will help Ravi realize his dream if his party's state president joined the Congress.
Addressing press persons in Vijayapura on Wednesday, Patil justified his statement that the BJP had treated Lingayats MPs unfairly by denying them cabinet minister rank at the Centre despite 10 MPs from the community in the state elected to the Lok Sabha. He had also alleged that the party has sidelined Lingayat MP from Belagavi Suresh Angadi by making him only minister of state even without independent charge.
Following this, C.T. Ravi had challenged Patil to facilitate Yeddyurappa to become CM if he was so concerned about the community. " Yeddyurappa is in the BJP at present. But I am in the ruling Congress. Therefore, I will definitely help Yeddyurappa become CM if he joins our party", Mr Patil quipped.
