Congress plotted Lingayat row to nix my Karnataka CM hopes: BS Yeddyurappa

Mysuru: The Lingayat religion storm which hit the state’s political scene a few months ahead of the Assembly polls and upset many a political calculation, was a ‘conspiracy’ by the Congress to divide the Veerashaivas and Lingayats and ensure he did not become CM, claimed BJP state chief B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday.

Speaking at a felicitation programme for ministers and MLAs belonging to the Veerashaiva/ Lingayat community, Mr Yeddyurappa said such attempts to divide the community had failed. “There are also attempts by vested interests to divide Akhanda Karnataka. People should not become victims of political conspiracies,” he warned.
