Naidu to tour Godavari districts, focus on irrigation schemes
KAKINADA: Telugu Desam (TD) chief and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will tour the Godavari districts for two days on Monday and Tuesday. He will visit Polavaram on Monday and reach Seethanagaram mandal in Rajanagaram constituency. He will stay at Rajamahendravaram on the night and later, he will visit Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme on Tuesday.
Naidu's tour comes at a time when the irrigation schemes in the Godavari districts are in a state of neglect. The former deputy chief minister and Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala China Rajappa said that the farmers are facing hardships to get water to their fields due to the dysfunction of several lift irrigation schemes. He said that the TD would focus on the irrigation schemes if it comes to power.
On Sunday, Rajappa and the former Jaggampeta MLA Jyothula Venkata Appa Rao (Nehru) visited Purushothapatnam lift irrigation scheme. They inspected the damaged works and expressed concern over the delay in the completion of the scheme.
