CPI has Plan B against Congress

The CPI state executive body said that Plan A is a demand for the seats and Plan B is to announce candidates in nearly 25 constituencies.

Hyderabad: With the seat adjustment talks heading to the climax ahead of the poll notification date on November 12, the Communist Party of India is increasing the pressure on the Congress for a greater share of seats.

The CPI on Monday publicly named eight constituencies that it is asking for as part of seat adjustments among Mahakutami parties. It warned the Congress that it was ready to contest in many other constituencies if the Congress did not allot it the seats it wanted.

The CPI state executive body meeting in the city on Sunday and Monday finalised Plan A and Plan B that will be implemented according to the response from the Congress. Plan A is a demand for the seats and Plan B is to announce candidates in nearly 25 constituencies.

Speaking to mediapersons, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said, “All our party workers are not at all satisfied with the Congress. They say that there should be a Mahakutami, but they are not taking it seriously. We are ready with two plans. If the Congress does not agree, we will contest in 20 seats in addition to what we are asking the Congress. We are asking the Congress for the Assembly constituencies of Kothagudem, Wyra, Husnabad, Bellampalli, Manugode, Deverakonda, Mancherial and Pinapaka.”

He added, “We are the one that laid the path for the Mahakutami. We don’t want to go with any other party if we exit the Mahakutami. The CPI can decide the result in as many as 40 constituencies. In these 40 constituencies, we can make someone win or lose. The CPI will give some more time to the Congress. If there is no proper response we are ready to go alone it in the elections.”
