Kalaburagi: State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa has promised to hold the Cabinet Meeting of his new government at Basavakalyana town in Bidar district if the BJP is voted to power in the coming Assembly election.

Addressing a public gathering at Basavakalyana as part of the Parivarthana Yatra, Mr Yeddyurappa said Basavakalyana has great historic significance as it was the land of Shivasharanas.

"It was at Basavakalyana that the first Parliament of the World was held under the leadership of Basavanna in the 12th century. My desire is to cherish the dream of great social reformer Basavanna, who advocated an egalitarian society. With a view to develop the region as Kalyana Karnataka, my government will hold a Cabinet meet here if voted to power", Mr Yeddyurappa stated.

Recalling his government's contribution to the development of Basavakalyana, Mr Yeddyurappa said he had released Rs 35 crore for the Basavakalyana Development Board. "We will pay greater attention to the protection and conservation of the monuments associated with the lives of Shivasharanas", he announced.

Realizing that there was competition for tickets in the constituency between two prominent leaders, Basavaraj Patil Attur and Maruthi Mule, Mr Yeddyurappa remarked that there was a need to give representation to all communities.

"But all should strive hard for the victory of the candidate who has been selected by the party for the ticket.”

Mr Yeddyurappa also made a scathing attack on Basavakalyana MLA Mallikarjun Khuba, who faces a CBI inquiry for allegedly accepting a bribe to vote in the Rajya Sabha election.

Earlier addressing a gathering at Bhalki, Mr criticised Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for shielding Minister Vinay Kumar, who has been accused of trying to influence the probe in the murder case of BJP worker Yogish Gouda. "The family members of the Zilla Panchayat member, who was killed, have alleged the complicity of the Minister in the murder. But the Chief Minister is continuing him in the Cabinet", Mr Yeddyurappa said.

The former CM also flayed the arrest of Mysuru MP Prathap Simha. "The police arrested the MP who went to offer pooja. The Siddaramaiah government has thrown all democratic norms to the winds", Mr Yediyurappa criticised.
