Two ministers, legislators meet Lt Governor Kiran Bedi
Puducherry: Amidst ongoing tussle between the Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, Puducherry PWD minister A Namasivayam, welfare minister M. Kamdasamy and Congress legislator RKR Aannatharaman and DMK legislator R. Siva visited Bedi at Raj Nivas.
“They all came after a long gap for reasons best known to them. Knowing fully well that the Lt Governor's office is there to help them always in promoting good governance and efficient administration. Visiting dignitaries were assured of all legitimate support always from Lt Governor's office,” Ms Bedi said in a WhatsApp message after the meeting.
In view of the ongoing public statements and prevailing concern on certain issues of purchases by the government owned institutions, the Lt Governor said that she along with secretary to the Lt Governor D. Neethi Dhas, reiterated and explained at length, that appointed public officials in administration remain accountable even after they retire from service, for observance of rules, regulations and due procedures in the course of their duties be it Administrative, financial or otherwise.
Even the Lt Governor enjoys no immunity from any such lapses, even post relinquishing of responsibilities. Therefore whenever a requisition is sent for any purchase it must be planned well ahead of time, has to be based on funds availability or budgeted in annual budget and follow financial rules and due approvals of competent authority.
There are no exceptions, she said. Bedi reiterated that the administration is here for good and efficient administration for the entire population of Puducherry which prioritises the marginalised sections of society and offered all support to the government.
Thanking the Lt Governor for all the cooperations Congress legislator and Chief whip RKR Anantharaman urged the need for working together for the growth.
“Lets' all forget all the things happened in year 2017. We start working together with transformation and good spirit towards the clean, green and growth of Puducherry,” the legislator said after the meeting.
