Nandyal TD questions allotment of agri research land for YSRC office
ANANTAPUR: A row has erupted over the alleged allocation of a portion of the land of the Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) in the newly formed district headquarters of Nandyal to the ruling YSR Congress.
Activists of Rayalaseema were already protesting against the allocation of lands of the research station for a medical college.
Some TD leaders – including former MP Farooq and TD leader Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy among others -- visited the Regional Agricultural and Research Station on Monday and questioned the director over the allotment of land for the YSRC office.
Farooq alleged that the ruling party was grabbing valuable lands in the name of setting up YSRC offices. Now, lands that were meant for research to help the farmers have been usurped, he alleged.
“The station director says he has no information about the allocation of land for the party office,” Farooq said.
Farooq called upon the government to protect the lands of research stations for the benefit of the state’s farmers. “Our party along with others would take up agitations against the unethical decision,” he stated.
