Telangana Legislative Council chairs to speed up panel action
Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Council chairman Swamy Goud and Speaker Madhusudhana Chary have promised to convene a meeting of chairpersons of House Committees probing irregularities in cooperative housing societies and others to review their progress.
They gave this assurance when Congress deputy floor leader P. Sudhakar Reddy complained to them about the tardy progress in the House committee probing irregularities in housing societies.
“I gave a letter a fortnight back on the issue, but there was no reply. Today I personally met them and complained about the fate of House committees. They promised to convene a meeting and speed up proceedings,” Mr Sudhakar Reddy said.
He also wanted the Telangana state government to come clear on the benefit and losses due to introduction of Goods and Services Tax.
“People should know whether the GST is beneficial or not. The government cannot blindly support the Centre’s action,” he said.
Referring to the ensuing Budget session of the legislature, he wanted the government to come clear on all the allocations made to various departments and projects and how much money had been spent.
