Congress-DMK coalition at Centre always succeeded: MK Stalin
Virudhunagar: DMK president M.K Stalin on Wednesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Tamil Nadu ally, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, alleging that their alliance was ‘opportunistic’ sans principles and public concern. The AIADMK and its CM had been ‘coerced’ into submission by the BJP by unleashing the Central probe agencies, such as the Income-Tax, Enforcement and the CBI, Stalin said addressing a massive poll rally here.
Listing out the various instances of the Central agencies raiding and probing the AIADMK ministers, Stain while the outcome of all that probing has not seen the light of the day in official terms, they all did result in the AIADMK meekly yielding to the BJP for forging its poll alliance in Tamil Nadu. The CM and his party here have compromised even though the NDA Government at the Centre failed to meet any of the dire necessities of Tamil Nadu and its people, said Stalin while listing out the ‘failed’ areas-such as the ‘dismal’ Gaja relief, the Cauvery-Mekedatu issues, NEET and the hydrocarbon project.
The DMK chief took on Prime Minister Modi poking fun at his public admiration for Jayalalithaa, now months after her death and despite her openly challenging him at the Parliament poll last time (2014), when she had asked the TN voter to decide between “Gujarat’s Modi or Tamil Nadu’s Lady”. The PM’s praise saying her contribution cannot be forgotten or ignored “is quite correct” considering she held the unique distinction of being unseated from power twice due to corruption cases and she would “not be in Fort St George but sharing the prison cell with Sasikala if only she were alive today”, Stalin said.
He said the Congress-DMK alliance at the Centre had always proved good for the country and expressed confidence that Rahul Gandhi would head the next Government. “Whenever the country faced a threat, the Congress and the DMK alliance has been formed and was also successful”, he said, while reacting to PM Modi’s opportunism barb at the Vandalur rally earlier in the day.
Modi had said if there was one party that had abused Article 356 again and again, it was the Congress. Even the DMK had become a victim, he said and hit out at the Dravidian party for joining forces with Congress, saying “opportunism has prevailed over values.”
