2-day road show: PM cut shorts distance from 8 kms to 6.5 kms
Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday cut short his roadshow from the earlier scheduled 8 kms to 6.5 kms distance from New Thippasandra to Trinity Circle and his roadshow covered 5 Assembly seats in Bengaluru city. He was in Bengaluru for a roadshow to campaign for his party nominees in the ensuing polls.
Over Saturday’s roadshow of Modi, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on his social networking account had posted “PM Modi's road show not only inconvenienced the people but also drew a lukewarm response and the roadshow of Sunday was reduced to 6.5 km.”
Janata Dal Secular leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had brought to the notice of the Prime Minister that his roadshow on Sunday in Bengaluru city would pose difficulties for the candidates for NEET exams since traffic diversion had been made by the Bengaluru police.
On Sunday, Modi resumed his roadshow on a decorated campaign vehicle from the statue of Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru city, at New Thippasandra and the roadshow passed through Indira Nagar, Swamy Vivekananda road, Adarsha junction and ended at Trinity junction.
People had gathered on the roads to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister and a doctor stated that she waited for two-hours to watch pass through the roadshow and was excited to have a closer look at him. Flower petals were showered on Modi along the route by the crowds gathered on the roads.
Modi had conducted a roadshow in Bengaluru city on Saturday as well and his roadshow covered a distance of about 26-km from J.P. Nagar to Malleshwaram crossing 13 Assembly seats. For the Modi’s roadshow, Bengaluru police had diverted the traffic
Among those who faced inconvenience over Modi’s road on Saturday was Congress leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who on a social networking site expressed displeasure stating that he was not allowed to reach Gangavathi in Koppal while the Prime Minister was on his way to Hospet in Vijayanagar district. “I made numerous appeals for my travel but denied permission,” he stated.
