AP leaders actively campaigning for parties, candidates in Karnataka polls
Anantapur: Several leaders from AP, mainly of the Congress and BJP, formed part of the campaign for the May 10 Karnataka assembly polls. Leaders from the border areas have also been on the election campaign in the adjacent assembly constituencies.
Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor and Satya Sai districts are located along the Karnataka borders. Former APCC chief Raghuveer Reddy, who is incharge of the Congress campaign in Bengaluru city was leading the campaign in more than eight assembly segments in the Karnataka border areas close to AP.
Raghuveer Reddy has been evolving strategies for his close aides contesting in various assembly segments. Rajanna, former ZP chairman of Tumkur district, is contesting as a Congress candidate from Madhugiri assembly segment.
Raghuveer Reddy was overseeing the campaign for the entire segment and his close aides from Madakasira have been deputed for the work.
G Prabhakar Reddy, a senior Congress leader from Madakasira, told DC that his team has been tasked with overseeing the campaign of a mandal in Madhugiri segment. In addition, many leaders from AP were campaigning on their own for the Congress, BJP or JDS candidates in the Karnataka polls due to their family relationship and business connections.
YSRC leader Rajesh from Madakasira said his team was campaigning for the JDS candidate in Pavagada. Thousands of families in border areas of AP have close contacts with leaders of various parties in Karnataka and are currently working for them.
