Vijayawada: Newly appointed state BJP president D Purandeswari called on the party’s national president JP Nadda in New Delhi on Thursday and expressed her gratitude to him for her selection to the top post.
She said in a tweet, “Met@JP Nadda Ji and expressed my heartfelt gratitude for the trust imposed on me. I assured him of my unwavering commitment towards the responsibility. Even as I work to strengthen BJP in AP, I shall also work towards safeguarding the interests of AP and Andhrites.”
Meanwhile, BJP sources say that she would attend the party’s meeting in Hyderabad on July 9, to be attended by state party chiefs, general secretaries and other office-bearers from the South.
A decision will be taken in the meeting on when she would formally take charge as state BJP president.
The AP BJP leadership called for a state-level party officer-bearers’ meeting in Vijayawada on July 16. She would be present and may officially take charge at an auspicious time beforehand.
AP BJP leaders would organise a grand welcome to her when she arrives in the state.
