TPCC Leaders Protest After Court Dismisses Rahul Gandhi's Petition

Hyderabad: Following the Gujarat High Court's decision in dismissing the AICC leader and former MP Rahul Gandhi's petition seeking stay on his conviction in a criminal defamation case on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surname, the TPCC leaders and Congress party activists staged protests by burning effigies of Narendra Modi at different places in Telangana on Friday.

Protests took place in Nizamabad, Siricilla, Karimnagar and other places in Telangana. In Karimnagar, the former MP Ponnam Prabhaakar alleged that the Gujarat courts are becoming government offices in BJP ruling. The BJP governments suppressed voices raised on behalf of people's issues.

The State Youth Congress President Sivasena Reddy said that Rahul Gandhi would fight legally in connection with the defamation case and the people have trust in Rahul Gandhi. The BJP government deliberately targeted Rahul Gandhi after Rahul Gandhi's padayatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir received mammoth response from people.

In Secunderabad, the DCC president Anil Kumar Yadav and party leaders burnt effigy of Narendra Modi at Tank Bund and staged a protest against BJP ruling and their policies.

In Siricilla, the senior Congress party leader Sangitam Srinivas and activists gathered at Gandhi Chowk and staged a protest. The Congress party leaders demonstrated rasta roko.

Meanwhile, the TPCC senior Leader V Hanumantha Rao alleged that the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted Rahul Gandhi and started registering false cases to damage Congress party image.

"Rahul Gandhi obtained people's support and he will be the next Prime Minister in the 2024 general elections. Unable to digest Rahul Gandhi's fame due to Bharat Jodo Yatra, the BJP and governments deliberately registered false cases," Hanumantha Rao said.

The TPCC senior leader G Niranjan said that the AICC leader Rahul Gandhi would approach the Apex court seeking stay on criminal defamation case. "We will fight legally and get justice in the case.The people observe the BJP's political harassment and voters will teach a lesson to BJP in next general elections," Niranjan said.
