Nizamabad is lucky place for TRS

HYDERABAD: Undivided Nizamabad district, where Chief Minster K. Chandrashekar Rao announced his policy of nationwide free power for farmers, is seen as a lucky place for the TRS. Several the initiatives started at Nizamabad have gone on to work well for the party.

Earlier, Chandrasekhar Rao had announced the first Assembly election nomination in the state from Nizamabad district. In the December 2018 elections, his emotional outburst against the Congress and its then ally N. Chandrababu Naidu changed the political mood in the state, and paved the way for second term for the TRS.

While announcing his free power initiative, Rao also recalled that the first TRS meeting was held at Khaleelwadi grounds in Nizamabad. He also mentioned his attachment with Mothe village in Velpur mandal. Cutting across party lines, Mothe had vowed to support the TRS during the statehood agitation.

Jawaharlal Nehru had made critical comments over the merger of then princely state of Hyderabad (present day Telangana) into Andhra State at Nizamabad. Quoting Nehru comments, Telangana protagonists achieved separate statehood in two phases of agitations 1969 and 2001.
