Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday came out guns blazing against the Congress, accusing it of destroying Palamuru district, adding that both BJP and Congress failed to grant ST status to the Boya community.
Rao, participating in a public meeting at Makthal, said that the BRS government adopted resolutions in support of the demand to accord ST status to Valmiki Boyas and sent it to the Centre. “The BJP government at Centre is not accepting the demand. After the election, the BRS would take up a movement for Valmiki Boyas and fight against the Centre,” he said.
He said that the Bhima project has been a decade-long dream for the people of the area and faulted the Congress and TD governments for failing to deliver. “When the BRS government was formed, the government constructed the reservoir by providing water to two lakh acres for cultivation. The Congress gave Rs 200 pensions. The BRS government will enhance the pension to Rs 5,000 after the election,” Rao said.
Later, the Chief Minister also participated in a public meeting at Gadwal, where he said that the Jogulamba deity is a ‘Shakti Peetha’ among ‘Ashtadasa Peethas’ in the world. “It is the reason that the district has been named after Jogulamba Gadwal. But the rulers, during the Congress regime, ruined the district without providing proper funds,” he said.
He said that the BRS provided water to irrigate one lakh acres, besides establishing a medical college and a nursing college here, with a 300-bed hospital also under construction.
“Even though there is a law to sanction Navodaya schools to new districts, the BJP government at Centre failed to provide. If Dharani is removed, how will the money for Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and paddy procurement be deposited to bank accounts?” the Chief Minister said.
In another public meeting at Narayanpet, Rao said that the area dried up during the Telangana movement and people migrated to Mumbai for livelihood. But currently, he said the situation has changed and people have started migrating to this place for livelihood after the government provided water for irrigation.
“I introduced Dalit Bandhu for the benefit of Dalits and to develop Dalits financially. Dalits have been subjected to oppression and social discrimination for ages during the Congress governments,” the Chief Minister said.
