Relief for YSRC leaders as special court dismisses long-pending case
Tirupati: In a major relief for some senior leaders of the YSRC, the special court for trial of criminal cases relating to elected MPs and MLAs on Wednesday dismissed a long-standing case against them from 2015.
The case involved Rajampet MP P.V. Mithun Reddy, government whip and Chandragiri legislator Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Srikalahasti MLA Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy, and other party leaders. They had been accused of allegedly attacking officials at Tirupati Airport during the previous Telugu Desam party regime in 2015.
A case was registered against these leaders at the Yerpedu Police Station in the combined Chittoor district. For nearly eight years, the leaders have been making court appearances related to the case. However, during the hearing on Wednesday, the special court ruled that the allegations against the YSRC leaders were not proven. It led to the dismissal of the long-pending case, bringing them relief.
The legal team, comprising advocates Madhukar Babu, Suresh, and Kotireddy, had put up compelling arguments establishing the lack of evidence against the accused leaders. They successfully convinced the court that there was insufficient proof to substantiate the charges against them.
