BJP will not cross 65 seat mark in assembly elections: D.K. Shivakumar
Bengaluru: As per my assessment, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not cross more than 65 seats, stated president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) D.K. Shivakumar. He added that “It would not be surprising if BJP numbers come down to as many as 40 seats.”
Shivakumar told reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday that “We have our own calculations on winning Assembly seats.”
On BJP’s calculations, the KPCC chief said, “Let them do anything their numbers would not cross 65 mark in the ensuing Assembly polls. Take the opinion of people on streets, farmers, bureaucrats, among others none of them are happy with the State Government and have anger against the BJP government.”
Predicting that BJP numbers might come down to 40 seats, Shivakumar pointed out that previously BJP secured 40 Assembly seats after BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa stepped down as the Chief Minister and the BJP might settle for the same numbers in the ensuing polls.
However, he said, B.S. Yediyurappa makes his own calculations on BJP winning seats but “My assessment is it would not cross 65 mark.”
