Karimnagar hots up over scheduled BRS, Congress meetings
WARANGAL: Political heat is up in Karimnagar with back to back public meetings scheduled at Markfed ground and Ambedkar stadium in the city on Wednesday and Thursday.
BRS, under the leadership of backward class welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar, is organising its public meeting on Wednesday on occasion of International Women’s Day, with health minister T. Harish Rao being the chief guest.
Former MP Ponnam Prabhakar will mark completion of Telangana Congress chief A. Revanth Reddy’s Haath Se Haath Jodo (HSHJ) padayatra in Karimnagar parliamentary segment on Thursday at the Ambedkar stadium.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, AICC Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, MPs, MLAs and PCC presidents of other states are attending the Karimnagar meeting, Prabhakar underlined.
Police had initially denied permission for the Congress meeting, following which
Revanth Reddy leading the HSHJ yatra questioned how their party can be denied permission when another by BRS is being held in the city just a day before their meeting. The TPCC chief asserted that they will go ahead with the meeting even if BRS elements pelt stones and eggs at the meeting like they did in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
With political temperature rising police officials handed over the permission for Congress meeting on Tuesday.
BC welfare minister Kamalakar announced that coinciding with International Women’s Day, health minister Harish Rao will announce a new “Arogya Mahila Scheme” at the ruling party’s public meeting on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Ponnam Prabhakar, DCC unit president K. Satyanarayana, Mulugu MLA Seethakka, Karimnagar parliament segment in-charge D. Sambaiah, V. Narendar Reddy, and City Congress president K. Narendar Reddy are making elaborate arrangements for making their public meeting on Thursday a huge success.
Prabhakar said at a public meeting in 2009 at Karimnagar’s same Ambedkar stadium, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had promised a separate Telangana state and went on to make the promise a reality despite the party facing an adverse result.
He maintained that people of Telangana are now facing adversity under BRS rule and the Congress meeting at the same Ambedkar stadium will start the process for dethroning of the cruel BRS government.
