Congress' guarantees did not work in five states: Amit Shah

BAGALKOT: Addressing an election rally in Hungund of Bagalkot district on Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah mocked the five guarantees provided by the Congress and questioned their ability to deliver on them.

Shah also brought up Rahul Gandhi's failed attempts to provide guarantees in states such as Gujarat, UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Tripura.

"Rahul Baba had given five guarantees in Gujarat but the party was defeated there. He gave five guarantees in UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Tripura also where the party lost in the election. Rahul Baba, there is no value for your guarantee,” Shah said.

"The five guarantees mentioned need 70 percent of the budget. Congress can neither provide security nor development,” he said.

He asserted that the BJP did not provide any guarantees but delivered welfare projects, citing the construction of 4 lakh houses, providing water to 43 lakh people, and construction of 48 lakh toilets in Karnataka.

He said that considering the support of the people, he is confident of winning this election.

“I was asked about Bajrangbali being dragged into the election campaign, I told them that Bajrnagbali was in Mandir. It was Congress who brought him to the election,” Shah added.

"The Congress party's appeasement policy has resulted in locking Prabhu Sri Ram and now they are showing disrespect towards Bajrangbali," Amit Shah said.
Shah alleged that Congress has forgotten about the farmers of North Karnataka. He said that BJP had stopped the 4 percent Muslim reservation and instead increased the reservation of Lingayats, Vokkaligas, and SC/ST communities.
Shah questioned Congress's promise to reinstate Muslim reservation if voted to power and make it 6 percent. He wondered whose reservation they would cut if they follow through with their promise.

“BJP will not allow Muslim reservation to return and also will not allow decreasing the Lingayat reservation," he said.

He also alleged that the Congress did not do anything for the welfare of the farmers of North Karnataka.

Shah promised to cover the Kittur Karnataka region with irrigational projects within 3 years.
