Karnataka elections: Have capacity to become Chief Minister, says D.K. Shivakumar
Bengaluru: KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar on Monday appealed to the voters of Kanakapura Assembly seat to elect him in the ensuing Assembly polls and send across a message to his political rivals PM Modi and JDS leader Kumaraswamy to show how strong Kanakapura voters are and how secular are we.
Shivakumar in the campaign told the voters that he has the capacity to occupy the post of Chief Minister in the ensuing polls and that his rivals in Kanakapura in previous elections such as JDS nominees-D.M. Vishwanath, P.G.R. Sindhia and Narayana Gowda had joined hands with him and supporting in the election.
It was his first campaign in Kanakapura from where he is seeking re-election on the last day of the campaigning which came to an end on Monday evening. Shivakumar has won 7 Assembly elections on a trot.
Addressing the gathering, Shivakumar stated that “Last time I won with a victory margin of about 79,000 and the whole country is curious to know what would be my victory margin in the forthcoming polls?”
He recalled the troublesome period when he went through when the BJP government conducted Income Tax raids, cases by the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation and questioned the gathering “Have I taken any bribe from you?”
"Haven't I helped you to get jobs?" he asked the audience. “When I was going through difficult times, it was your prayers, love and faith on me gave me strength to face the situation,” said Shivakumar and asked the voters to vote for the change in Karnataka and throw ‘corrupt’ BJP government
“By throwing the BJP government in Karnataka, a strong message should go for here,’ he said at the campaign and reminded the people of Kanakapura the services rendered by the Congress party during Covid pandemic.
