Amit Shah blames Akhilesh Yadav for Mathura violence, Dadri incident
Lucknow: BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday blamed the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh for all the ills plaguing the state, from the Mathura violence and Dadri tension to irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGA and corruption and lawlessness.
After attacking the Bahujan Samaj Party for the past several months, the BJP has now trained its guns at the Samajwadi Party. Mr Shah told reporters here on Tuesday that the Akhilesh government was acting as a barrier blocking welfare schemes formulated by the Modi government and preventing the benefits from percolating down to the common man for political reasons. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court refused to to order a CBI probe into the Mathura violence.
Akhilesh orders probe into Mathura violence
In a major development, the Akhilesh government on Tuesday announced a judicial probe into the Jawahar Bagh violence in Mathura in which two police officials were killed on June 2 while trying to remove squatters. Justice (retired) Imtiaz Murtaza will head the one-man judicial commission and has been asked to submit its report within two months.
The terms of reference of the inquiry include circumstances which led to the clashes, the failure of intelligence agencies, role of local police and civil officials and other aspects that may have impacted the incident. The inquiry commission will also suggest ways to prevent such situations form recurring in the future.
The judicial inquiry ordered by the state government is apparently aimed at pre-empting any move to get a CBI inquiry into the Mathura clashes. The BJP has been pressing for a CBI probe into the Mathura clashes to unravel the political angle in the matter.
