Rumours of K M Mani cosying up to NDA
KOTTAYAM: There are speculations about discussions between the Kerala Congress (M) and the BJP for a possible alliance with the NDA as a major section of the KC(M) cadres opining that an alliance with the Congress is not going to benefit them politically.
The KC(M) candidates who contested in Pala, Poonjar and Ettumanur constituencies witnessed a substantial reduction in the number of Congress votes polled in their favour. Youth Front (M) state president Saji Manja-kadambil told this newspaper that there has been a general feeling among party members that the Congress is bent on debilitating the party.
The discomfort with the Congress became explicit when the KC(M) mouthpiece Prathichaya hailed Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently. The KC(M) is planning to constitute its panels, including steering committee and state secretariat by the end of June to discuss the latest developments after the elections. It is learnt that a number of party members are determined to air their displeasure in continuing the alliance with the Congress led (UDF) at these meetings.
