TPCC planning series of rallies in run-up to polls
ADILABAD: The TPCC is planning to organise a series of public meetings in Khammam, Hyderabad, and Nirmal in the coming days as part of preparing the party for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
News is that a group of senior leaders from various parties including Jupalli Krishna Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former MLA and former ZP chairperson of erstwhile Khammam district are likely to join the party at a public meeting likely to be held on June 25 or 26 in Khammam town, where CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka will end his padayatra. AICC former president Rahul Gandhi or AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi are expected to attend the meeting as chief guest.
According to sources, buoyed by the victory in Karnataka Assembly elections, the AICC is preparing an ‘action plan’ for Telangana and wants to guide the leaders in the run-up to the poll battle and the first meeting will be held on June 12 as TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy is returning to India from USA on June 9 night.
Meanwhile, the party leadership is also mulling conducting a separate public meeting in Hyderabad for the joining of leaders from other parties, before the Khammam meeting.
Nadeem Javed, AICC incharge secretary, who was looking after the party’s affairs in Telangana, said at a meeting in Asifabad a few days ago that Priyanka Gandhi had wanted to address rallies in all the 17 Parliamentary constituencies in the state and she might start her Telangana tour soon. She is expected to attend a public meeting to be held at Komaram Bheem Asifabad district headquarters soon.
Senior BRS leader V. Srihari Rao of Nirmal, who is likely to join the Congress, sought the ‘blessings’ of Ramchandra Reddy and other senior leaders for his entry into the party fold.
The party is planning a public meeting in Nirmal in the next month and inviting Priyanka Gandhi as the chief guest.
