Jagan to make party cadre poll-ready at outreach meet
Vijayawada: Amid swift political changes going on in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is speeding up YSRC’s outreach programmes. As part of it, he is launching the curtain raiser of “Why AP Needs Jagan” on Monday, October 9.
The venue of the programme is the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada, where party cadres from village to state level are going to assemble. This will be the first grassroots-level meeting for the CM in more than four years. So far, he has limited his meetings and workshops to MLAs, MLCs, MPs and party regional coordinators, reviewing Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam, Jagananne Maa Nammakam, Jagane Maa Bhavishyathu, Jagananna Suraksha, Jaganannaku Chebudam and Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has felt the need for ground-level contact following the rapid political changes taking place in the past weeks, capped by the imprisonment of Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the AP Skill Development Corporation scam.
This has enthused TD rank and file, who are now continuously protesting on a daily basis. They took up the Kanthi to Kranthi on Saturday. Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari, son Lokesh, daughter-in-law Brahmani and brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna are also trying to hot up the state against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
Given these developments, the YSRC chief wants to launch the “Why AP Needs Jagan” programme amid the public on October 11. Before then, he wants to sound out party cadres, particularly from the village level, on Monday.
YSRC state general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy revealed that as part of preparing the party ranks for elections, it would be good to have a meeting with the leadership of mandals before going to the people and seeking their blessings for the continuation of the development and welfare programs of the government in the state.
He disclosed that more than 8,000 invitees will attend this meeting, including mandal party presidents, ZPTC, PTC, MPP party chiefs, leaders of party affiliates, market yard chairpersons and so on.
Ramakrishna Reddy stated, “YSRC has been in touch with people. whether it is in government or not. It is among the people. Even after forming the government, we have remained continuously in touch with the people through various programmes. Monday’s meeting is part of our efforts to remain in touch with the grassroots,” he added.
