Kamareddy: The Kamareddy BRS unit, which is in the spotlight due to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao deciding to contest from the segment in the state polls, continued to remain in deep turmoil due to internal fights, suspensions and defections to Opposition parties.
Given that TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy has also thrown his hat in the ring in the segment, to go up against Rao, BRS sources said concerns were emerging over a section of party leaders, who were behaving recklessly due to their sound financial backgrounds and community support.
In the latest developments, the BRS suspended Machareddy mandal Praja Parishad vice president Jeedipally Narasimha Reddy and Manthani Devupalli sarpanch Arvind, as per orders issued by Rao’s political secretary and Kamareddy Assembly constituency incharge. Sheri Subhash Reddy.
The suspended duo reportedly attacked Machareddy ZPTC member Minukuri Ram Reddy recently, following which BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao visited Kamareddy and decided to suspend them.
Machareddy MPP president L. Narsing Rao is alleged to have attacked Minukuri Ram Reddy over election campaign issues. Following this, Reddy Ikya Vedika supported Ram Reddy to pressurise BRS high command to suspend Narsing Rao from the party, but the efforts of Kamareddy MLA Gampa Govardhan and BRS incharge Sheri Subhash Reddy failed.
Rama Rao visited Ram Reddy at his residence to placate him and on his recommendation, suspended Narasimha Reddy and Arvind. Rama Rao also suggested that Narsing Rao work hard for the victory of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and set aside differences.
Initially, Narsing Rao decided to tender an apology to Ram Reddy, but later changed his opinion, BRS sources said.
In an earlier incident, former BRS president Gaddam Chandrasekhar Reddy was suspended from the party, following which he and his wife, Indupriya, Kamareddy municipal vice chairperson, joined the Congress.
Sources said that the BRS cadre is still worried over possible clashes among second-rung leaders.
