BJP mum on PK distancing from MLC polls
Visakhapatnam: State BJP president Somu Veerraju has dismissed questions as to why Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is not taking an active part in the MLC election campaign in the state.
When asked whether the BJP's alliance with the Jana Sena was intact, Veerraju told the media here on Thursday that the Jana Sena was very much with the saffron party and supporting the latter’s MLC candidates.
“When he launched his Varahi campaign vehicle in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan had said his party was with the BJP. When I messaged him that the BJP is fielding candidates for the MLC polls, he replied that the Jana Sena will not contest the polls and its local leaders would support the BJP candidates,’’ Veerraju said.
As for the north Andhra graduates constituency, he said BJP candidate P.V.N. Madhav would retain his seat as the party had enrolled more than a lakh of voters.
“The YSRC is moving heaven and earth to win the MLC elections. This party is violating the election code at every step and not hesitating to bribe the graduates,” he said.
He said the government has neglected its employees by delaying payment of their salaries. “We seek a white paper on the role of advisers to the government and the amount being paid to them every month.’’
The BJP president accused the government of making temples as revenue-earning centers. It was the central government that got Rs 50 crore sanctioned to the Eswar temple in Kurnool, Annavaram and Srisailam, he claimed.
He asked, "Why did the government not make any effort to arrest those involved in the destruction of temples at various locations in the state?”
