Code violation: Manju gets fresh notice
Congress leader and Hassan district in-charge minister A Manju, who is facing an FIR on violation of the poll code, was issued a fresh notice accusing him of poll code violation by District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri in Hassan.
The notice accused the minister of falsely approving 1093 applications in Arkalgud taluk of Hassan district for regularization of land by the Land Regularization Committee by creating documents on an earlier date which amounts to violation of the model code of conduct. Mr Manju represents Arkalgud Assembly segment.
The notice to Mr Manju is based on the joint enquiry report submitted by Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer, Arkalgud Assembly Constituency following a complaint filed by BJP leader Yoga Ramesh. Acting on the report, Rohini Sindhuri found that the Minister’s action of signing and issuing land grant approval during the elections amounts to “bribery” under section 171B and is punishable under section 171E read with section 188 Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The joint enquiry report said that huge tracts of lands were regularized by the Land Regularisation Committee headed by Minister A Manju under Form 50 and 53 (under section 94 A,B,C of Karnataka Land Revenue Act) on March 27- after declaration of elections in the state.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed against Arkalgud Tahsildar Prasanna Murthy, member-secretary of the Land Regularisation Committee accusing him of colluding with Manju.
