BS Yeddyurappa to HDK: First restore order in JD(S)

He regretted that ministers were going on foreign tours when the state was reeling under drought.

Belagavi: Hitting back at state JD(S) chief H.D. Kumaraswamy for his claim that the BJP would split into six factions soon, state BJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa advised him to keep his flock together before showing concern for other parties’ affairs.

Claiming that some JD(S) legislators were keen on joining BJP, he said it was time Mr Kumaraswamy set his own house in order and refused to comment on his senior party leader K.S. Eshwarappa's continued association with the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade despite being warned against it by the high command.

Mr Yeddyurappa, who was speaking to reporters before setting out on a two-day tour of Belagavi district on Monday, took objection to Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya's jibe that the BJP's mission was not to win 150 seats in the next assembly poll, but 420, calling the comment “highly stupid.” He asserted that his party would gain more than 150 seats in the state as the people were tired of the ruling Congress' “misrule.”

“Teams of leaders formed by BJP president Amit Shah will conduct surveys in assembly segments and the party will finalise candidates for the coming polls based on their reports,” he added.

He regretted that ministers were going on foreign tours when the state was reeling under drought. “Instead of working to overcome the drought, the Congress is focusing on unimportant issues. Despite our appeals, the government has not waived off farmers’ loans,” he said, assuring that his government would waive off the loans as soon as it came to power.
